3. Taiwan HSR 700T

The Taiwan High Speed Rail, or THSR, had opened for service on January 5, 2007.   The line stretch out alone the west coast of Taiwan, from the nation capital, Taipei, to Kaohsiung, a southern city in Taiwan.  The railway is operating by the 700T series, which is derived from the Japanese Shinkansen 700 series.

Why do you think Taiwan would chose to derive the Japanese train instead of designing their own new High Speed Train?
