The Japanese E2 series started its services since 1997 with the maximum speed of 275 km/h operated by East Japan Railway Company on the Tohoku and Nagano Shinkansen high-speed lines. They are formed in 8 and 10 cars set and the 10 car set usually coupled to E3 series. A total number of 502 vehicles, in the other word, 53 sets of train were built and put into service.
